Nova Scotia Treasures
6 Days Sunday Departures from Halifax NS Cradled in the splendour of the sea, Nova Scotiašs mystique has for centuries lured adventurers, dreamers and travellers. See the sights of Halifax, and enjoy the trip to Sydney aboard VIA Railšs newest train, the Bras dšOr, across Cape Breton Island and back.

Tour begins as you discover Halifax, strolling through the restored Historic Properties district along the waterfront where 19th-century privateersš warehouses have been transformed into specialty shops and restaurants, or exploring the displays and dockside historic ships at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, where you can see relics from the Titanic. The Halifax Citadel, one of Canadašs most visited National Historic Sites, is a meticulously restored fortress alive with the stirring music of the bagpipes, soldiers performing musket drills on the parade grounds and the thunderous boom of the noon-day cannon.

The rich culture and traditions of Cape Breton come to life as you travel between Halifax and Sydney NS aboard VIAšs Bras dšOr , through the heart of Canadašs most famous coal-mining region, across the Canso Causeway and into picturesque Cape Breton. The land is rich in Scottish tradition, perhaps because the populationšs ancestry were drawn to the area by Bras dšOr Lake, a magnificent body of contained salt water, reminiscent of a Scottish Loch. While winding through rolling hills, stunning valleys and picturesque communities such as Dartmouth, Truro, Antigonish and Iona, a guide will point out historic sites and bring the regionšs history to life. Overnight in Sydney, then return to Halifax, enjoying Maritimes scenery with 360š views from the dome car. A selection of local wines and ales is available, accompanied by Celtic music and hospitality. First-class comfort, fine local dining (some meals included) and onboard entertainment are sure to make this rail journey a highlight of your holiday.

Then visit Nova Scotiašs most famous attraction, Peggyšs Cove. Have your postcards ready to mail from the post office‹itšs a lighthouse! Visit historic Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where seafaring heritage is echoed in centuries-old architecture. This is the home of the Bluenose II, the ship depicted on the Canadian 10-cent coin. Hear tales of daily life on a salt-bank schooner and adventures on the high seas at Lunenburgšs Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic. Tour concludes in Halifax.
