With good organisation and attention to detail Paul Tottle provides what is probably the most upmarket tours available in New Zealand. He believes the critical factor is the guides comprehensive interpretations and their attentiveness to the needs of our guests. Paul Tottle guides many of the tours and also employes some of the best guides in the business. These tours won the 1995 New Zealand Tourism Award for Best Activity.
Scheduled tours use moderate to upmarket accommodation chosen for location, hospitality of the hosts and quality of the establishment. A strong emphasis is placed on accommodation that has character, ambience and intrinsic worth. These small group tours take a maximum of 8 people and provide a level of quality, flexibility and spontaneity hard to find in any other tour.
Private tours are designed around the special needs of the guests - based on extensive local knowledge and desire to create a tour that will exceed everyones expectations in every aspect - e.g. food, accommodation, hosts, people we meet, scenery (easy!), guiding interpretations, daily activities, special interests... Private tours for 2-3 people generally cost 25% more than the scheduled tours.
The New Zealand Tourism Board write in theirThe Best of New
Zealand publication, Nov. 1995...
"New Zealand is at its most stunning and magical on the small group
journeys offered by Paul Tottles Personal Tours. He and his group of up
to eight travellers explore the mystique of Punakaiki, New Zealands rain
forests and wildlife of South Westland, the beauty of Fiordland and the
thrills of Queenstown.
Paul brings back to life the New Zealand of 80 million years ago, giving
travellers a feel for the diversity of the country - its rich history,
geology, ecology and marine life.
The tours offer great accommodation, and activities that range from
greenstone hunting or eating the leaves of a nikau palm to canoeing and
feeding tame eels. Spontaneity is a top priority and, as the name
suggests, each tour is personalised."
